Our Senior Pastor | Dr. Keith Zachary
Keith Alan Zachary was born on November 5, 1956 on Eglin Air Force Base near the sandy beaches of Ft. Walton, Florida. His parents (Charles and Joyce Zachary) were natives of Louisiana and moved the family back to their home state shortly after Mr. Zachary’s obligation to the military was complete. Here the young Zachary grew up in a Christian home and in the shadow of two ordained preachers: his grandfather, the Reverend S. W. Bradham; and his great grandfather, the Reverend Fleet Strickland. Though these men and other family had a great influence on him, Keith was not saved until the summer after his high school graduation (click here to listen to his testimony).
Upon completion of high school, and after his conversion, Keith joined the United States Air Force and served with the Strategic Air Command in a Civil Engineering Squadron in Duluth, Minnesota. While living in Duluth he was a member of Northern City Baptist Church. It was at this time he began to sense a strong conviction that God was calling him to Christian ministry. Here during a scheduled church revival campaign, Keith made his calling known to his pastor and after yielding evidence of his call to the congregation he was licensed to the ministry. Upon completion of his military service Keith married Jeanie Walker of Baker, Louisiana. One year and one month later (almost to the date) they were blessed with their first son, Jeremy Keith Zachary. Twenty-three months later they welcomed another child into the family, their daughter Keri Leigh Zachary. During this time, while serving as associate pastor of Northside Baptist Church in Baker, Louisiana, Keith was ordained to the ministry. A few years after his ordination he accepted his first position as senior pastor in Jennings, Louisiana.
Here the Zachary’s were blessed with their second son, Jacob Christopher Zachary. While working as pastor in Jennings, Keith attended McNeese State University. From Jennings the Zacharys moved to St. Francisville, Louisiana. While ministering in St. Francisville Keith completed his education at New Orleans Baptist Theological and became one of the thirty-one class members in the first baccalaureate graduating class of NOBTS. Completing his undergraduate, Keith continued to serve in church ministry and went on to earn two master's degrees from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (MAR & MDiv). While serving as Senior Pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church (2003-present), Denham Springs, LA, Dr. Zachary completed his doctoral qualifications at NOBTS and graduated in 2012 with a DMin. degree.
